What I Do
- And How I Got Here -
Before I became Editor-in-Chief of PHLEARN Magazine, I spent over five years specializing in Photography Writing and contributed articles regularly to sites like PictureCorrect, Sleeklens, and PhotoWorkout. Photography has always been a huge passion of mine; I may not be professionally trained in the art, but the knowledge and experience I have gained writing about photography techniques, interviewing some of the biggest and most inspiring photographers out there, and covering industry events has been invaluable!
And while I spend most of my time these days writing about and looking at (and sometimes even taking!) beautiful photos, I also run my own freelance writing business, which is where you find yourself today. I started Jennifer Berube Writing Services in 2010, after a failed and regrettable attempt at an office career. It wasn’t long before I realized that freelance writing was the right path for me. It allows me the freedom to travel and work from anywhere in the world, and I am constantly learning about new things. The life of a freelancer is never boring, that’s for sure!
In my early days as a freelancer, I wrote about everything, for everyone. If you needed blog posts on what to wear when visiting Ontario, I was on it! The side effects of beet root juice? Yep, no problem! Anything that I could research extensively and write an informative article about, I took the project.
I worked with world-renowned companies like Culligan Water, Advanced Inc., and Search Marketing Standard Magazine. I helped these companies write web content to boost online traffic, craft case studies and other marketing materials, manage SEO, conduct research, and write engaging articles.
One of my early clients was Rebuild Your Vision, a company dedicated to providing natural vision improvement solutions, like eye exercises and eye vitamins. I started with them in 2012 and am still the editor there to this day.
Over the years, I built up a diverse portfolio. And slowly, I began to be able to narrow down my areas of interest and expertise. I started to focus on the arts. First music and literature, then photography. I wrote regularly about things I was really passionate about for some awesome publications like Zouch Magazine and Ellenwood-EP. In addition, I worked as an assistant producer on The Photography Tutorial eBook.
And I worked on and grew my own writing business. I’m proud to say I now have a team of dedicated and skilled writers and researchers who I work with regularly and who inspire me daily. No matter your project, I will be able to provide you with the right team member to work with you closely and deliver incredible results.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to discuss a potential project and rates. You need someone who cares about your company’s success and will make your project a priority. Let me be that person!
